The Doha International Family Institute (DIFI) participated in the United Nations (UN) 50th Session of the Commission on Population and Development which was held April 3-7, 2017 at the UN Headquarters in New York. DIFI submit a written statement calling for a stronger commitment to strengthen the family institution as a "window of opportunity" to achieve sustainable development goals. As an NGO accredited with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at the UN, DIFI's work aims to strengthen Arab families through research, policy and outreach.
The Doha International Family Institute's (DIFI) Conference on Family Research and Policy, held on October 17-18, 2016, emphasized a commitment to influencing existing public policies and future research. Leading local and international researchers and policymakers examined the most effective means of preserving the family unit during times of instability and civil unrest, the experience and changing role of NGOs in war zones, post-war family transition and resettlement of refugees in the region.
