The Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), in collaboration with the University of Calgary-Qatar, presented a report on "Exploring the Lived-Experiences of Caregivers Caring for Elderly Persons in Qatar" during Qatar Foundation's Annual Research Conference (ARC) on 22 March 2016.
DIFI participated in a high-level Arab conference on "Arab family in light of contemporary changes" in Sharm Al-Sheikh, on 28th and 29th February 2016.
On February 9th, 2016, DIFI organized a panel discussion on “Work-Family Balance, Social Development, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: Implementation of Culturally Specific Policies” during the 54th Session of the Commission for Social Development (CsocD54). The priority theme of this year’s 54th session of the Commission for Social Development was “Rethinking and Strengthening Social Development in the Contemporary World”. This theme strongly advocates a rethinking of some of the social policies, especially the ones that haven’t been successfully implemented, according to specific country contexts, obliging the international community to think innovatively and devise new policies.
DIFI signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the Executive Bureau of GCC Social Affairs Ministers Council.
Dr. Marya Reed and Ms. Dana Al-Kahlout represented DIFI at a UN side-event, organized by the Qatar Mission to the UN, on “The Role of Family-Oriented Policies in the Post-2015 Development Agenda.”
