DIFI concludes its International Conference on “Parenting, Child Wellbeing and Development”

The Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), a member of Qatar Foundation, recently concluded its international conference which, through the development of parenting programs and best practices, aimed to help contribute to the upbringing of children.

DIFI brought together a network of leading policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and representatives of civil society organizations for its two-day international conference – titled ‘Parenting, Child Wellbeing and Development’ – at the St. Regis Doha. The event was also attended by many academics, as well as child and family advocates, to discuss and debate parenting issues and propose possible interventions and highlighted very important issues designed to formulate practical policies and proposals, build global best practices, and implementation tools.

During the conference, attendees addressed issues such as the importance of parenting; supporting working parents; parenting in the digital era; investing in parenting education programs; and parenting children living with disabilities. The sessions focused on parenting program costs and their return, methods of data collection and evaluation, and best practices.

The conference concluded by sharing the ‘Civil Society Statement on Parenting’. The statement was the result of a pre-conference meeting for civil society organizations organized by DIFI and the International Federation for Family Development.

DIFI, through its projects and initiatives, aims to highlight the importance of family issues in the Arab world and make them a priority for policy-makers on local, regional, and international levels.
