Dr. Khalid Jamal Al-Naama, Director of the Advocacy and Outreach Department at DIFI, participated in a workshop on the phenomenon of divorce in the GCC countries, which took place in Riyadh on January 26–27, 2026.

Dr. Al-Naama delivered a presentation titled “Divorce in the Gulf: From Ideal Expectations to Family Breakdown,” in which he discussed the main factors contributing to divorce, particularly during the first years of marriage in the Arab world.

The presentation highlighted that intellectual incompatibility ranked as the leading cause at 18.9%.

Dr. Al-Naama emphasized the importance of implementing pre-marital education programs across the Arab region, as a key step toward supporting stable and secure family environments and reducing divorce rates.
