Doha International Family Institute (DIFI) organized a panel discussion titled “Marriage, Motherhood and Modernity: Evolving Expectations in Muslim Societies and the Role of the Family” as part of the Al Mujadilah Conference “Jadal 2026.” This session examines social, cultural, and economic transformations reshaping concepts of marriage and motherhood in Muslim societies. It explores how changing societal expectations, women’s growing participation in the labor market, evolving social policies, and modern lifestyles influence family roles and cohesion. The discussion highlights the importance of evidence based research in shaping family policies, especially those related to work–life balance, maternal wellbeing, and family stability and showcases Qatar’s experience in using research to develop supportive family policies and promote dialogue among decision makers, researchers, and stakeholders.
