
The Center for Gulf Studies at Qatar University organized the 8th annual international interdisciplinary conference entitled “Gulf Families:Continuity and Change” in collaboration with the Doha International Family Institute
The Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the UN in partnership with the Doha International Family Institute (DIFI) organized Briefing held at the side-lines of the UN Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee – Third Committee, to announce that the State of Qatar will host a global conference in October 2024 in Doha, organized by DIFI.
The session commenced with welcoming remarks by Her Excellency Ambassador Shk. Alya bint Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN, followed with opening remarks given by Ms. Maria Francesca Spatolisano, Assistant Secretary-General for Policy Coordination and Inter-Agency Affairs, UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs.The session included two main interventions by the conference organizers; where Dr. Sharifa Noaman Al Emadi, Executive Director of DIFI, discussed the organizational legacy of the conference and the technical preparations undertaken by DIFI across continents to formulate a complete vision for the conference outcomes. His Excellency Mr. Mubarak bin Ajlan Al Kuwari, Executive Director of the Permanent Committee for Organizing Conferences at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), underscored the importance of hosting the IYF to the State of Qatar and the various means of contributions that MOFA prioritizes in support of it.
Mr. Renata Kaczmarska, the Focal Point on the Family at the UN Division for Inclusive Social Development in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), moderated the concluding remarks and discussion between delegation representatives and the participants.
The Doha International Family Institute (DIFI) has launched the OSRA research grant in its sixth cycle which is a research grant on Arab families and family policy related issues.
