Integrating a Family Perspective in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Arab Countries: Aspirations and Challenges
Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund Arab States Regional Office (UNFPA ASRO) organized an Expert Group Meeting on “Integrating a Family Perspective in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Arab Countries: Aspirations and Challenges” on November 29–30 at the Qatar National Convention Center in Doha.
The meeting was held in response to several international and regional efforts and calls stressing the importance of the family in the achievement of development goals. The meeting aimed to provide an analysis of the contribution of families to the achievement of the SDGs. This includes exploring the mechanisms used to address the family and support it nationally, regionally, and internationally, within the context of security, political, and economic challenges, among others. Additionally, the meeting sought to identify the challenges facing the Arab family and the ways to overcome them. The meeting was held to encourage/promote the integration of a family perspective in the implementation of the SDGs at the national and regional levels, as well as the inclusion of family priorities in national plans and policies.
