Launched under the sponsorship of the Qatar Mission to the United Nations, this book demonstrates that the family is the basic building block for development and presents scholarship backed by intensive research by Dr. Susan Roylance and the nine chapter authors. These discuss real-world solutions that use family capital to solve real-world problems. As noted in the introduction by Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser, chairperson of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, “This book begins an important dialogue with policy makers, agencies, administrators and members of civil society on strengthening society through reliance upon—and support of—society’s most fundamental unit: the family.”
