CALL FOR PAPERS: The 8th Annual International Interdisciplinary Conference of the Gulf Studies Center at the College of Arts and Sciences Qatar University Gulf Families: Continuity and Change

Date:

Date: 19th- 20th November 2023

Venue: Qatar University, Doha – Qatar

(Deadline for abstract submissions: 15 May 2023)

We invite papers from the scholars who may provide insight into the dynamics of family life in their own natal societies. The potential scholars are, therefore, expected to have an emic view of the families in each Gulf country, and we believe that such a perspective will facilitate an in-depth understanding of continuity and change of Gulf families within a cultural context. The scope of the conference encompasses research on the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC): Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, in addition to Iran, Iraq, and Yemen. Given the presence of huge non-national migrant families in the GCC States, we are also interested in non-national Gulf families. Gulf families, therefore, include both national and non-national families in the Gulf.

We warmly welcome scholars including Ph.D. scholars and policymakers, to contribute to this academic event.
